I have to admit that sometimes I'll take a couple of moments to reflect when a client and I haven't ended up on the same page, but that's okay because I always find another way to use those articles.

One other thing I'd like to add to your list, if I may, is to stop devaluing what you do. I actually had one of my clients tell me this past week that I'm charging too low for many of the things I'm writing. How often has that kind of thing happened?

I agree with all but #6. Clients ARE different from one another; different gigs pay differently; some projects are deadline driven while others aren't. Bottom line, I'd say it's best to know your clients - and to provide them with the service they need at the price that is appropriate to the industry and the product.

Nos. 3 and 7 go hand in hand. My wife and I are fans of the Biggest Loser. The best parts are Jillian yelling at contestants about their excuses for their weight (I know my weight issue is not anyone else's fault, too, by the way. I know where the treadmill is).

Same is true with writing. If you are running a business, "can't" is a word you can't use (yes, I meant to write that). Remember Apollo 13. Failure is not an option. I know where I heard this saying, but I don't know the real origin: "Excuses are for losers." If you want to be successful in writing or any other business, excuses have to be eliminated, or at least kept to a minimum.
