the no faking is interesting… something to contemplate for me since one writer often outsources to me and I’m quite sure my existence is unknown. I don’t need to be known for those projects… suspect I’ll decide it’s my employer’s problem, not mine… would you agree?

I outsource some web work now and that’s great for someone who used to have to do it all myself.

Deb,

I too agree that there’s no shame in outsourcing. But I’m glad to see this post, because it seems a lot of people are blindly jumping on the outsourcing bandwagon nowadays.

Take blogs like Tim Ferris and the 4 Hour Work Week for example — everyone there keeps talking about outsourcing like it’s God’s gift for avoiding work. In reality, it’s quite difficult to outsource your work (especially if you’re in the service industry like writing).

Thanks for the credit Deb! This is a good continuation of the discussion at Freelance Folder.

I do want to clarify that I’m not endorsing “faking it,” but rather starting a discussion about something that we all face from time to time.

Personally I would… well, you’ll have to read my blog post to find out what advice I would give.
