Freelance Writing Jobs for March 10, 2010

Just a head’s up, I’m heading to Austin for South by Southwest Interactive tomorrow morning.  The lovely and talented Jodee will be here to offer your daily dose of leads and other fun stuff. Meanwhile, I’m going to do my best to bring you reports from SXSWi as often as I can. I’ll have my camera and will be sure to take pictures of the FWJ meetup, plus parties hosted by Media Bistro, Demand Studios, Mashable, Social Media Breakfast and more. I’ll be attending book readings, Core Conversations and many interesting discussion panels. I can’t wait to share them all with you.

What are you up to?

Anyone joined in paid contributor program Experts 1-2-3. Please guide me if you can.
Wanted to ask whether any one contributed a review for http://www.brothersoft.com. The website was accessed by me with the information given in an Gig in this site only… http://www.freelancewritinggigs.com/2010/01/75-write-for-us-pages/ (is the link)
Actually the site was specified as 11.BrothersFit – $20+/post but it is Brothersoft.

I got oppurtunity to write a review based on their requirment by giving a link which was a download link of a software. I had to download it and use it. Wrote a review of 817 words or so and submitted them. But after submitting i got a mail that too after giving mail by me. I was told that someone else wrote review for it and my writing was OK and in future they will connect with me for any review.

I did not understand one thing if they wanted any other person to submit the review then why was I asked to write a review on the same topic. After seeing the site i came across the review on same topic submitted by someone else which was posted on 4 Mar and i was asked to write on Mar 1…but when i submitted the review on Mar 5 then also i was not told that someone else already submitted and we published it already. I was even asked to put placeholders in the document for images on Mar 5..Now i really feel waste of time and energy..I dont have any other option to submit the same review somewhere..

Hope the moderate of this site will publish this comment so that others can share their thoughts if any… :) Any suggestion is welcomed.

I wouldn’t bother with Experts 123. They pay peanuts ($1-1.50) for answering a question. Plus their website does not work very well in filtering their requirements for your specified topics. They return dozens of questions that have nothing to do with your expertise.

      Hi, Rak

I tried the download site after reading your review. I was worried when the pop-up asked if I wanted to download something so I stopped it and exited the site. It may have been an ad and not something from the website I couldn’t tell. (If anyone knows if this matters, I’m using a Mac Book Pro with Safari).

Regarding Experts123.com, I tried the Paid Contributor program. I agree with some of the comments that Rick left. I too had trouble narrowing in on the search terms. I have also had the problems like this with Yahoo Answers and wiki answers (which don’t pay at all). These sites all have a lot of questions so it’s hard to find the ones I want to answer. At least the Experts site doesn’t close questions like Yahoo. I hate that, especially when I have a better answer.

What I got paid Experts123 is not what Rick was paid. I might have misunderstood what Rick said…but I wrote three articles. Two of them were 350 words for $10 and one was 500 words and it paid $15. Two of them were accepted without changes ($10 and $15). One $10 article needed changes. I was a little peeved at the latter but I realized that I made some small typos (spelling) and a punctuation mistake. Stupid mistake on my part. I was in a hurry. I know! No excuse.

Anyway, I was paid promptly as promised and they were professional which is all I care about. I was subsequently invited to the Elite Program Writers Program but I don’t have details on that yet. I’ll post when I know.

Different topic. Anyone write for Examiner? I submitted to their site based on a recommendation from a friend. I have not heard back. I also sent sent a query letter to eHow. Anyone know anything about these?

New baby so I’m trying some of these out. Getting paid as promised ranks high on my list so I’ll continue with Experts123 and experiment with others.

      K.

Thanks for the list — I had to leave a client yesterday, so looking for another great gig.
