Freelance Writing Jobs for Monday, April 5, 2010

Ugh. Today is one of those days when I just wish I could go back to bed. I’m fighting a bad cold, tired, and just don’t feel like gathering leads today. Still, it’s Monday and I believe in making a positive start. What do you do to get going when you’re not into it?

  2. Rupa says:

Feel better soon, Deb…and thanks for the leads. It’s easier to stay positive on bright, sunny days. I take a walk or go sit by the pool to work and it puts me in a good mood. Also, I think about my 3-yr-old at daycare who’ll be back home in a few short hours and that is always a motivator!!

Music always helps. I always to try to reward myself for getting things done especially when its those things that I hate doing.

  5. Deb, I hope you feel better soon. Be sure to take it easy and get some rest. Take care.

  6. Matthew says:

Tread carefully with that Love to Know. I wrote for them for a few months–it was like an ancient Chinese water torture. They only pay $20 for articles upwards of 500-600 words (about 2 cents per word) and the assignments are ridiculous; ie: SEO keyword things with Wiki. I wrote them when I quit explaining that they should offer decent wages of at least 10 to 20 cents per word, but I see they still pay the same. It’s just a shame so many places pay so poorly. Fortunately, in comparison, I have some good clients where I can write whatever I want (within reason and not being to Gonzo/incriminating/nefarious) that pay a few hundred dollars for 500 words, so it’s just a shame we can’t force these low paying gigs to offer reasonable compensation. A lot of new freelancers don’t realize that they should be paid much more. These places should be ashamed to offer such low wages. Would you pay a plumber 23 cents for fixing a drain? Ok, my love to know rant is finished. Happy writing from ethereal paradise in majestic Los Cabos, Mexico. Viva Mexico!

Just a heads up, there seems to be a problem with the Street Authority site accepting applications.

  9. Susan says:

  11. Kenna says:

    Thanks for the leads.

Getting to work when I don’t feel like it is what freelancers in any field face some time in their careers. Yikes! That is not an easy one to solve.

I workout, listen to music, clean house (I hate cleaning house, so that’s sure to get me back to work.)

But, if I am sick, I take it easy and work slow and steady. I only do what I have to do. I take naps, drink lots of water, tea and take a nap. It’s tough having to work or write when I am sick. Definitely, not a lot gets done compared to when I am feeling well.

We are each our own leaders in how to get over the humps. When you get over this hump, make sure you acknowledge yourself for making it happen. It’s not easy and I am sure we have all been there.

Finally, rent a movie, lie down and watch it, relax.
