Freelance Writing Jobs for August 29, 2011

Writer's BlockHi, everyone! Monday’s here again, and I hope everyone’s all warm and safe. Just before I started working on today’s list, I came across a short article about how to cure your writer’s block.1 In summary, the points are:

  1. Go for a walk.
  2. Listen to music.
  3. Read articles.
  4. Take a nap.
  5. Ask for help.

All those things have worked for me in the past – either alone or as a combination. Do you agree with the cures, or do you have any other tricks up your sleeve?

  1. Whenever I experience writer’s block I go to another online site and work on a different article. And, sometimes I’ll take time out and watch a soap on TV–however, they are a dying breed..

  2. FYI: You’ve a posting for SankyNet — I worked for them a few years back. They do not pay. I had to fight with them and contact the person who runs the organization several times to get paid.

BTW: The most common cure for writer’s block, and the one which tends to work best: Writing. Yup. Either start writing something other than the blocked project or just push yourself to write ANYthing in that blocked project and maybe you’ll stumble upon a good flow.

  3. Writer’s Block? I backstrack my work and find out what I didn’t understand about my article (per Study Technolgy). I get that cleared up or clarified and then I can write.

If it is something else blocking me, I take a walk or do something less tasking on my thought patterns, like play ping pong with my daughter or clean an area of my house — nothing like starting the laundry.

  4. Please don’t contribute to stuff like this:
    Psychology Writer (Chicago)
This person wants to hire a writer to get him into grad school. That’s just as bad as posting a job for writing student term papers! It’s one thing to hire a coach to help you, but quite another to actually hire someone to write your samples and statements for you.
