   Hi ya Guys and Gals!

   I need some help! I’m trying to get back into freelance writing after a long stint away. This website is great, but I’m having a hard time undersatnding where/who exactly I would submit articles and ideas to. Many of the description are extremely generic and have no links provided. Where do I find info on propositions that are posted here? Thanks for the help.

   Sorry, I thought it was well known.

   Entertainment writers went on strike at midnight. They want a cut of DVDs and so on.

   Erik, the following sentence from your comment is unclear:

   “Don’t take any entertainment jobs until this is settled.”

   It should elaborate: “Don’t take any entertainment jobs working for film and television production companies and studios until this is settled.”

   I write about entertainment and am in no way required to stop doing so as a result of this strike. Heck, I’m one of the many writers who work for non-production outlets who are covering it. The world would be mightily uninformed without us carrying on.

   They they hire non-union writers when their writers go on strike? I thought they just shut down…

    They do shut down. There are lots of shows that have stockpiled episodes so it should be business as usual for viewers for the next couple of months. If the strike goes longer than that, you can look forward to lots of repeats, reality shows, and that kind of thing.

    As a writer who covers mostly reality TV and game shows, I’m split down the middle here. I certainly side with the Writers Guild, but… I’m going to be very busy!

    I think it’s the soap operas and late-night shows that might have to run repeats.

    My understanding is that it’s just those types of jobs that could get you ‘chits’ or whatever the Writer’s Guild calls them towards membership that are applicable for this strike. Mostly screenplays and the like? Not things like writing for a magazine or blog that covers a specific show?

    Any help’d be great. Thanks…
