Web Catalog Writer
While an in-person interview in South Bend, Indiana is strongly preferred, this is basically a work-at-home part-time position for someone in the US. You'd be writing descriptions (and occasional articles) for retail items on the workingperson.com Website. (There's some possibility of occasional catalog/article assignments, even for other sites, in the future.)
Pay is per piece. For the Working Person's Store site this would average about $6-7 per 150-400 word piece, assuming good quality. In the past, occasional larger pieces have earned more. This will depend on the assignment. You would be expected to be able to write 15 normal pieces per week. There might be less, and you might have the opportunity to do more.
This is an independent contractor position, and obviously requires a reliable Internet connection. The only fringe benefit (other than a wonderful Editor, me) is a meaty discount on WPS merchandise.
Obviously, I'm looking for a responsible person who can make deadlines and learn from constructive criticism. ( It is unfortunate that many people consider themselves "writers" but turn out amateurish material that doesn't even follow basic grammatical rules, much less show any professional style.) Some college is strongly preferred, along with writing experience. A sense of humor is required, as it needs to be integrated into your writing. We're looking for an occasionally entertaining, even edgy style blended in with educational content about our products and their features.
If you're interested, please send a cover letter, resume and writing samples (preferred).
