Happy Friday morning to everyone at FWJ! I have some internships for you today, along with opportunities for bloggers, content writers, copy writers, and technical writers. There are a couple of gigs for researchers, as well. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

I am a master’s student in the journalism department at UNT, and I wanted to make you aware of a literary nonfiction conference that would be invaluable for journalists. The conference is sponsored by the Mayborn Graduate School of Journalism, The Dallas Morning News and Village Voice Media. This year’s keynote speakers are Pulitzer Prize-winning author Scott Momaday, National Book Award Winner Bob Shacochis and Candice Millard, author of River of Doubt. The conference is an excellent way for writers to gain new perspective on writing from some of the best writers around, and they even have a writing contest with cash prizes! Please visit themayborn.unt.edu for more information.

What’s with all the flagging? At least 5 different writing opportunities have been flagged.

  3. Cathy Says:

ah flagging…that’s usually courtesy of “fellow” writers, who are too afraid to compete for a job, so they decide to apply for it and then flag the post for deletion so that no one else - who might be more qualified - can apply.

    nice, huh?

  4. Matt Says:

    Yeah.

Either that or they were bogus ads to begin with and may have gotten flagged for, you know… a valid reason. :)

I’ve seen several ads from here that had no business being posted in the first place. (Nothing on Deb and Jodee, as I don’t expect them to apply for every ad they post here to ‘test’ them for us.

    Ya know?

  5. Jodee Says:

@ Matt: I hope that only happens every now and then. I have responded to some ads to find out more information before posting them for you guys.

  6. Matt Says:

Jodee, it’s not often, but it’s enough to know that it’s probably not just people insecure about competition who are flagging jobs.

You do an excellent job of providing us with good, relative links. I know you probably hear it all the time, but just to re-iterate… Thank You. :)

  7. Jodee Says:

    @ Matt: You’re welcome. :)

    Deb,

I have followed your blog and sites for some time now. Most of your leads are spot-on and they save me a lot of time.

I know that it’s hard to verify the Craigslist-type leads. We all just have to do due diligence on those.

    Thanks,

    Carol
