The “writing position - telecommute” listing has a bad address.
February 8th, 2008 at 6:38 pmLove all the editorial opportunities today! Thanks, Jodee!
February 8th, 2008 at 8:46 pmLove this site!! I check it everyday and have gotten some really great leads from it. Keep up the great work and thank you!!
February 8th, 2008 at 9:48 pm@ Christina and Bill: You are most welcome!
February 8th, 2008 at 10:11 pmThank you a hundred times for taking the time to do this. Back when I started, I felt like I was turning in circles.
Just a comment; I’m a tech writer and I’ve noticed that most positions are on-site…I’ve always thought that was rather amusing. You’d think, of any genre, we’d be most likely to reap the rewards of technology!
February 8th, 2008 at 10:30 pmDeb - Any insight on LifeWire? I see that some “LifeWire Writers” have bios/articles on some About.com sites - which is news to me. I thought only About.com guides wrote for their own sites (though I think I may have seen some “guest posts” too).
I guess I just don’t get it.
February 8th, 2008 at 11:24 pm@Kara - I never heard of Life Wire it might be a new venture from About.com/The New York Times Company?
February 8th, 2008 at 11:37 pmAs far as I understand it, Life Wire writers are paid to write freelance articles on About.com sites.
February 9th, 2008 at 12:02 amJust a heads-up about LifeWire: It’s been advertising for the same copy/line editor positions on and off for several months.
Since there are typically dozens, if not hundreds, of applicants for off-site editing positions, this makes me wonder about the viability of the startup and/or its staff turnover. It doesn’t seem to have its act together at this point.
February 9th, 2008 at 12:50 amYou guys, I just sent off a handful of responses to job listing this last hour. I had ordered some editing software that can do more than just what Word.doc does. It came in the mail shortly after I sent all of these things off, and I quickly installed it.
When I used my “writing samples” document as my first test of the software, I was horrified to find that my so-called cherry picked articles from my collection had no less than four errors each - including “right of passage.” Ugh! I want to suck up those emails and send each recepient an apology. I’d spouted on about how thoroughly I check my work, too. ;(
I’m just going to pray and look for more leads tomorrow!
February 9th, 2008 at 2:32 am@Jodee and @ Deb
February 9th, 2008 at 3:33 amThank you again for this site and the leads.
@ Erika K: I had to look at “right of passage” a couple of times - it looked all right to me, LOL! I guess I need to either drink more coffee or get some more sleep.
@ Jenny B: You are most welcome.
February 9th, 2008 at 3:47 amI can only hope that the potential employers who read over my writing samples do it at 3am with no coffee! LOL!
February 9th, 2008 at 4:21 amHi Jodee!

Hi Solomon,
If you click on the links on the list, you will be taken to the job postings. You apply in the manner the employer specifies in the ad.
February 11th, 2008 at 4:54 amHi guys -
I’m removing the Workforce Management link as they wrote to me that they’re not hiring.
Thanks
February 20th, 2008 at 9:27 pmErika K: What is the name of the editing software that you installed (and are obviously so pleased with?)
February 22nd, 2008 at 10:47 amthere is a misspelling at the very top of this page: in the box where it has the link for www.suite101.com - It says Freelance “Wrirting” Jobs. Thought you might want to correct (sorry - my editing background kicked in!)
