I applied to the Simply Good Media job. Does anyone know if they pay anything? The posting didn’t say and I know their last offer didn’t either. Wondering if anyone is blogging for their network.
    Thanks!

  2. Ashley Says:

Yes, I was wondering the same thing…

  3. Amy U Says:

I believe it was a % of revenue if I remember right.

  4. Amy Derby Says:

I don’t blog for them, but if I understand right their ads say they pay in a percentage off of merchandise. Like one pays in 50% off Ikea merchandise and another pays in 50% off recycled paper products or something like that. So that’s not the same as paying in revenue share. You’re paid with discounted products. At least that’s how I read it.

  5. dee/otc Says:

They pay in a % off of merchandise? Well, that stinks. I can’t very well buy merchandise, be it discounted or not, without an actual paycheck.

    Argh.

  6. Robin Says:

I replied to this company a couple of weeks ago. If I had understood the pay structure, I wouldn’t have bothered.

  7. Carly Says:

Wow, that’s good to know. I was considering trying to pick up one of their gigs, but now I think I might REconsider. Thanks to everyone who provided info about this.

  8. Amy U Says:

sorry everyone - I went back and rechecked the email I received from them. They pay $6 per post ($5 per post during 90 day probation). They do also give bonuses for great bloggers.

The 50% off in their ad is NOT referring to the pay. The blogs are based on a low budget lifestyle. So if you LOVE shopping sales and 50% off sales get you excited, that is what they are looking for.

  9. Robin Says:

    Thanks for the clarification, Amy.

  10. Tiffany Says:

It’s funny there is a writing job posted in Grand Junction, CO (my hometown) considering I left there to find jobs! Small world…

    Hi Jodee,

I just wanted to mention that the leads presented each business day have been a huge part of my career rebuilding efforts. I don’t know if I’d have the time to scour for these jobs, so thank you VERY much!

    *hugs*

  12. Sirenavs Says:

I agree with Jodee. I don’t think I would find half the jobs scouring the web for them each day. If I did I think I would spend so much time searching that I wouldn’t have time writing.

A big thank you from me as well.

  13. Sirenavs Says:

sorry I meant Jenn, typed it wrong. LOL

  14. Jodee Says:

Well, thank you very much - you’ve made my day! :)

  15. Erik Hare Says:

Doesn’t anyone need a Classical Music writer? That’s the dream gig I keep looking for.

Ah, well, we have the dream gig for a Rugby fanatic, at least.

  16. Jenn Says:

    Erik,

That’s how I felt when it came to writing about art (particularly the art I like to create). It was my “dream gig” and I *never* thought I’d see it happen. Now that I’ve been searching (A LOT) in the *right* places, I’ve been finding more and more opportunities. It’s not high-paying, but it’s quick work (that “write what you know” slant) and worth it to me. :) You’ll get there.

  17. Jenn Says:

    Sirenavs,

Hee hee, I didn’t even notice the typo until I read the next comment. :)

  18. Amy Derby Says:

    Amy,

Thanks for clarifying that they do pay in something other than merchandise. One of their gigs did interest me, but I couldn’t justify doing it just for a discount on recycled paper (or whatever it was). Next time they post a gig, I might apply. :-)

    Thx for the leads!
