Thanks Jodee! I just landed one of the job postings you listed. Couldn’t come at a better time either, the deadline for an article I did for a major train company came and went without them acknowledging receipt of the article and photographs. I’ve even tried calling her to ensure she received it and wound up leaving a message on the day of the deadline saying I had sent the attachment and four original pictures as required and never heard a word back. So I’m down $250 that I was expecting and feeling quite bummed. At least this new one will bring in some of the money I lost.

You’re giving up? Do you have a contract?

WNY Family Magazine is a great publication to work with. My first print article was with them and a second is coming out in April. The editor is very friendly. The magazine is very popular here in Buffalo, if you get accepted, tons of people will see your work.

While I have a contract, it was useless when I couldn’t get a response to prove she’d received the photo attachments by the deadline.

There is an update to this as of last night. I finally heard back. The person that hired me has since quit the company and failed to tell the company that he’d hired other writers to do his share of the work. So now they have their lawyers looking into the situation to see what can be done.
