FYI that part-time managing editor (telecommute) position is for a packaging machinery technology magazine. I just thought I would spread the word so other people not interested in the fascinating world of packaging machinery don’t waste their time faxing or calling.
April 30th, 2008 at 7:01 pmThe resume writers needed will bring you an instant reply sending you to a fake job site that actually just wants you to sign up for poetry contests. That’s the second time today they’ve got me with that one.
April 30th, 2008 at 10:53 pmHeads up….The $30K Resume Writer posting is a ‘bait and switch.’ After sending my resume and qualifications to the craigslist posting, I received an auto response. Then responded to message and was sent to ‘WRITE RIGHT’ with job listings…and none of them listed ‘the bait.’ Now they have my contact info. ;(
April 30th, 2008 at 11:44 pm@ P.D. Yoko - that’s the second one today that’s got me with that, plus one yesterday, and my inbox has been filling with spam all day. My spam filters are working overtime right now.
May 1st, 2008 at 12:05 amHeh. I was just coming to post a warning about the resume writers’ position.
May 1st, 2008 at 12:34 amMe, too. Damn those bait ‘n switchers.
Wonder how we freelancers could get together and get ‘em back?
Maybe we could send dirty limericks to their poetry contest? (Nah… they’d probably like that…)
May 1st, 2008 at 1:46 amJust FYI - I do some work for Oversee.net (not Music or Finance though). They pay very promptly at the end of each month and are very easy to work with.
May 1st, 2008 at 2:09 amWhen a job listing doesn’t necessarily say they want a resume, should you send one anyway?
May 1st, 2008 at 2:38 am@ Paul: I don’t, but I typically send an overview of my experience and a line along the lines of “I’d be happy to send a resume if needed.” I do sometimes have people email back and ask for a resume.
May 1st, 2008 at 8:47 am@Fiona - doesn’t just flame you that some people don’t have anything better to do with their time?
@Paul and Brandi: - I’m taking Brandi’s lead on this one. I will send my resume after receiving confirmation that they want to see it. Otherwise, a brief overview should work. I’m just angry with myself for falling in that trap. Heah, but when you are looking for work….:)
May 1st, 2008 at 5:46 pm@Kori- does Oversee.net offer telecommute jobs for writers? I checked out the site and the right now they don’t have anything.
