I wrote for Not For Tourists. They are nice to work with, but it took over 60 days and a few e-mails to get my paycheck.

Nancy,
Though 30 days should be considered standard, 60 isn’t that bad as long as you know it. Many pubs I write for don’t pay til something runs, which is typically 60-90 days out.

FYI — I was hired for the Writer for Nanotechnology Company ad yesterday, completed and finishing edits now.
The position is filled.

Phil,
I was being nice. More time than that went by (after I sent an invoice) with no info. Then, I was told they were “short of cash.” A couple of more e-mails were exchanged, and I was paid.
Most pubs don’t let your invoice languish with no explanation, waiting for you to prod them into action.
You’re right, though, 60 days is fairly normal. Most of my clients pay within 15-30 days, so I am lucky.
