In Celebration and Appreciation: May is Guest Blogger Month at FWJ

As most of you know I started Freelance Writing Jobs in May 2005 as a way of helping other work at home moms find gigs paying more than a couple of bucks. To be honest, this was only supposed to be a way to share information with some friends. I never expected it to take off like it did. I’m thrilled at how my community has grown in these three years. Yesterday I chuckled when I remembered how exciting it was to have a day with 100 visitors. Today, we’re at more than a couple of thousand visitors each day and I can’t tell you how good it feels.

If there’s one thing I learned these past three years it’s that I’m no expert. Even more important, I learned the members of my community all have wonderful advice to share. Many of you have written or commented about topics you’d like to see covered and many of you pitch in with advice whenever a discussion opens. In that spirit, I’d like to give you all a chance to blog at FWJ. In celebration of our third anniversary and in appreciation of this community, May will be "Guest Blogger Month" here at Freelance Writing Jobs.

I’d like to invite all of the members of this community to submit a guest post for next month. You can write about anything you want as long as it has to do with freelance writing. At the end of the post, you’re welcome to mention your blogs, books, projects or anything needing promotion. You always have something to say, here’s your chance.

There will be more birthday festivities coming up. We’re going to have some awesome prizes and giveaways so please don’t be a stranger. If you wish to submit a post for Guest Blogger Month, send it to me at deborahng(at)gmail(dot)com with "Guest Blogger" in the subject line so I don’t spam you by mistake. I don’t care what stage you are at your career. You can be a seasoned novelist or problogger, or you can be a brand new writer. If you have advice to offer or a story to share, I’d like to showcase it for you.

Next month is all about you.

    Hey Deb,

I saw this ad on craigslist today:

Startup blog network looking for bloggers with unique perspectives or lifestyles to create and maintain blogs about those lifestyles.

We will set you up with a blog, email address, advertising, search engine indexing, exposure ability to build samples and pay.

You will be expected to provide

-Postings 3-5 days per week (100 words+) with correct spelling and grammar.

    -Real world knowledge

-Minimum 1 image with each posting

    -Willingness to follow style guide

-Interaction with visitors/Commentators to sites in order to build community

-Promotion of your blog via links

    -Text free of Plagarism

    -Prompt response to emails

Payment will be 50% of Ad revenue.

Experience is nice, but samples and reliability are mandatory. Please send letters of interest to: “expressionsblognetwork@gmail.com”. Please include your proposed blogs title, scope and audience in the message.

Is it normal to only get paid based on ad revenue only? I just wanted to know?

  23. Deb Says:

Hi Kate - Writing for revenue is just a fancy term for writing for free. Unless you have a guarantee - expect nothing for your efforts. Not recommended.

  24. wilhb81 Says:

Thanks for the event, deb is truly awesome :)

Hey Deb, I sent you a guest post, and I do hope that you received it; my ISP is sometimes blocked by US email accounts because my messages come from Italy, so I always like to let people I don’t normally email know that something is coming. Thanks for the opportunity btw :)

    Best regards,
    Michelle

  26. Debbi Says:

Wow! A very generous offer that I’ll take you up on.

    Thanks,
    Debbi
