Lordy, it was chilly this morning. After spending the past week in Las Vegas, the frost on the pumpkin was a rude awakening. I’m not a cold weather person, but this time of the year is so pretty. It’s the last day of the month so I imagine many of you are fulfilling all your end of the month quotas and obligations. After being away for much of the last week I thought I might stay up late working last night. I changed my mind and decided to unplug early – before dinner, even. No regrets. I may be up until 3:00 a.m. tonight but the family time and relaxation was so worth it. I even slept through my alarm this morning,  but I don’t recommend that. When was the last time you blew off work and unplugged? [Read more…]

I’m happy to report the feeds have been fixed. Thanks to all who brought it to my attention. I had no idea! You should be able to subscribe via email or your favorite feed reader now with no problem.  Some folks who responded to our survey requested a way to combine all our feeds into one for more convenient feed reading. I’ll see what I can do… Some survey comments are also stating they would like to see more “non-Craigslist” writing ads. I would love to accommodate. However, Craigslist does list the most freelance writing jobs each day – and [Read more…]

Several folks asked me to post their jobs this morning and I had to turn them away. There were several reasons for this. One was from an “Academic” company looking to sell term papers to students, and we don’t do that here. Others were for very low payers – some .01/word and less and one was for rev share only. We have a firm policy for posting a job ad here, and all that is done for a reason. I weed out scammers, term paper mills, extremely low payers and more so you’ll have the best gigs from around the [Read more…]

Something I’ve been struggling with for the past year is what is more important – my brand, or the brand I’m paid to build up. Don’t get me wrong, if I’m paid to do a job, I give it 100%, but if there’s one thing I learned recently is that my own brand is just as important – if not moreso. It’s not an ego thing at all. As a writer, blogger and social media consultant, I want potential clients to choose me over someone else. Without my reputation, a good brand, that’s not going to happen. How can others [Read more…]

It’s a good lesson for all bloggers – don’t give up and good things will [Read more…]
