The majority of mail I receive lately is from freelancers who are frustrated by the mixed messages they receive from writing bloggers. I feel this is important to explore. The first step in beginning a freelance writing career is to research and if brand new writers are finding conflicting information, that means I’m part of the problem. My method of sharing information is to present the various opportunities, tell you what worked for me, and let you make the choices you’re comfortable. The Rates are Going Up and Other Freelance Writing Job Board Trends

I’ve been trolling the freelance writing job boards practically every day for the past five years. All of them. I read Craigslist, use the Indeed search engine, and visit a variety of other job boards and networks including Journalism Jobs and Media Bistro. As noted in another post, even if I wasn’t looking to place leads here, I still like to check the job boards because it indicates the nature of freelance writing. I’m a creature of habit. I rely on my routine as it helps me to stay focused. I start work at the same time every day and generally work until family time begins. Holidays throw me off. I heard on the news today New Jersey is experiecing our coldest snap since 1985. Now, I don’t know if this is true or not, but I can tell you it’s very cold.
