I’m not sure how long this unseasonably warm weather will last, but I’m enjoying it while I can. I’ve been working from my back deck enjoying the fresh air after being cooped up for the last several months. Freelance writers are portable. We can take our laptops and travel anywhere we want. I’ve been known to get stuff done at piano lessons, the park and I’m a fixture at the local coffee shop. Where do you go to work when you don’t want to deal with the same old scenery? I’m hoping that things will pick up job wise (and traffic wise) starting tomorrow. I think a lot of the slowdown is because of all the folks taking spring breaks. Honestly, I wish all the schools around the country would have the same time off in order to better plan outings with family, cousins, etc. I notice some typical slow down patterns for traffic to this blog and even job postings. Here’s some interesting food for thought: My first paid blogging gig wasn’t for a blog network. It was for a major cable women’s network and I was paid $500 for 200 words a week. That’s $500 for 800 words a month. Nowadays, of course, most blog networks are struggling. I’ll be doing a series at Network Blogging Tips on whether or not one can really earn a living as a blogger for hire, but in the mean time I’m always interested in your thoughts and experiences. Do you blog for a living? If so is it for a network or [Read more…]
