Weekend Challenge: Say Something Nice
Your mission this weekend, friends, if you choose to accept it, is to say something nice. Blog about something positive, or write about it in your newspapers columns, novels, emails or letters to Santa. Negativity is viral and it’s so easy to get caught up in controversy. My challenge to you is to write something nice.
After you write something nice, come back here and post the link if you can, so we can all be inspired by your positivity.

Great choice Deb!
Today, I am re-running an activity that I did a few months ago. I’m encouraging everyone to toot their own horn and comment about something great they’ve done this week for their writing careers.
November 30th, 2007 at 4:15 pmI’m all for sharing some positive vibes!
November 30th, 2007 at 6:32 pmOooh. Might need the change of frame of mind I need. A deadline is up tomorrow for an article that pays pretty well. I ran into one glitch with the photographs (basically they wanted snowy shots of the town above me that are from this year and have never been used before… the problem is that while some of VT has seen snow, the area along northern Lake Champlain is still green). So I emailed the editor twice in the past four weeks to ask what do I do if there is no snow have never heard back. So I tried calling her and left a message but have had no response. So I went ahead took pictures anyway and submitted the article yesterday anyway and again no response. So I’m trying to stay cool, but feeling pretty frustrated at the same time. I have a hard time believing that this company is a scam - it’s a major tourism company, but the lack of response is pretty disheartening.
But I’ll have to see if there is anything happy I can write about out there.
November 30th, 2007 at 6:59 pmWell, I already did my blog, and I don’t know if anyone will find it positive. Then again, concepts like “positive” and “negative” don’t normally work on a Taoist like m’self.
I also have a dealine today, for a $240k grant. Tho it isn’t done, it will be shortly. I’m good. Sometimes it’s more about the schmoozing than the actual grant request, and I think we’re already pretty well loved.
November 30th, 2007 at 7:49 pmJust discovered your site and am looking forward to recommending it to our audience in this week’s newsletter. In particular, love the Nov 30 post—we all need to do that year-round.
November 30th, 2007 at 9:09 pmHi Gail,
Welcome and thank you for your kind words. I do hope we’ll see you more often around here!
November 30th, 2007 at 9:41 pmMe? Say somthing nice? Gee, Deb, you’re really asking a lot of the Screw You! queen. ;o) I have, however, risen to your challenge and posted a job request … and there’s not a single “Screw you!” therein.

December 2nd, 2007 at 12:10 amDeb,
Thanks for the challenge. I’d have posted about this anyway, but your post inspired me to get it done today and not procrastinate.
I’ve posted about Frames for a Future, a picture frame auction going on at this week to benefit children with AIDS. The auction is being hosted by the American Foundation for Children with AIDS, one of my pro bono writing clients. You can find the post here.

Complaining about low rates is a recurring topic, so… Three cheers to Writerfind.com for taking a stand!
December 3rd, 2007 at 3:34 amI said something nice in the wrong place. That doesn’t surprise me. Happy Monday everyone, I think it is time to shovel a little more snow before it gets really dark outside.
