Whether it’s due to amusement or exasperation, you be the judge.
While we live in the digital era, banner printing is not dead, as we can see billboards everywhere. After all, the real world does exist, and life is not all about 1s and 0s.
Whether we’re talking about print or digital, however, there are some things that don’t change – much to our annoyance or amusement: grammar, punctuation, and spelling mistakes.
Today, let’s have a bit of fun and look at some signs with funny (or not) mistakes. To make things simple I’m using “grammar mistakes” as the umbrella term.
Signs with funny grammar mistakes
1. Days Inn
Found in Las Vegas, this sign should appeal to individuals who are seeking a wife, yes? So if you’re on the prowl for one, you know where to go. Oh, and contractions!
2. Buy 1
This sign leaves me reeling, not only because of that apostrophe but because I don’t get. I just don’t understand what you get free’s. Is it just me?
3. Nothing under $5
Lack of period notwithstanding, I don’t know where “bad” is. I suppose that those who don’t like the price will have to find wherever “bad” is.
4. Dog poo
To be fair, printing this sign was, in all likelihood made with good intentions in mind. After all, who likes stepping on dog poo? Then again, they should have hired a copywriter. The photo says it all.
5. Cheaper than cheaper
Smile and wave, boys. Just smile and wave. (Via)
6. Cheap as chips
The first thing that came to mind was “it depends on where you buy your chips and what kind of chips you buy”. That being said, yeah, some boots make you go “ugh”, don’t they?
On another note, what’s all the hype about UGG boots?
7. Dogs and goats
I don’t even know where to begin. One thing’s for sure: that’s a creative way of placing an apostrophe.
8. What’s important?
You might have seen this before, but it’s too funny not to share again. That’s not to say that all people with big biceps don’t know correct grammar, okay?
9. The dog and the hydrant
It seems that dogs and grammar mistakes often go together in print signs. What’s up with that?
Saving the most hilarious sign for last…Girls, if you want shiny hair, you might want to follow this piece of advice. Then again, “you are hair shiny” might mean a totally different thing, so take this with a grain of salt.
I hope these signs add some laughter to your day. Have a great weekend!
In the frenzied ad campaign for Black Friday, I spotted this:
“Almost up to 90% off.” I resisted this amazing bargain.

But, how could you have resisted?
Debbie Adshade says
The punctuation mistake on the sign put up by the goats should be forgiven. They are goats.
